A modern, purpose-built facility, Hamilton House Care Centre is a three-storey building with a passenger lift for the easy mobility for residents. Featuring 60 beds – all with an en suite – and an easily accessible urban garden with fountain and pathways, the centre is designed to give residents comfort in their everyday life.

Managed by Dawn Davie and located in Drayton, Portsmouth, the nursing home provides a variety of care types, including end of life care, respite care, nursing care and 24/7 residential care, as well as catering for those with dementia and challenging behaviour. Each resident receives a comprehensive pre-assessment to ascertain their needs, and funding advice is available if required.

Languages spoken by staff are varied to aid communication and includes: English, Romanian, Hungarian, Spanish and other dialects. Chefs are trained to tailor meals to meet dietary requirements – including gluten free meals – and while the menu concentrates on British food, world foods are included and identified to reflect differing cuisines.

Each room has a phone point, with much of the home having access to internet. Visits with animals are encouraged, and residents can keep budgies or cats depending on the floor of the building.

Activities for residents are regularly arranged to keep them active and social. Arts and crafts, cake decorating, music and movement classes, crosswords and more, all keep residents entertained. To help residents feel comfortable, Hamilton House provides a weekly hairdresser, monthly chiropodist and complementary therapy, as well as personal laundry services.

In the summer, trips to the beach can be arranged, allowing residents to enjoy the close proximity to the coastline, while at Christmas there are shopping trips and other festivities arranged. Previous outings have also included trips to museums, the zoo and picnics. Local facilities and points of interest are within a five minute walk or a short drive, ensuring there is plenty to see and do for residents who are able to go out (subject to individual risk assessment).
